This Surfsand Resort Summer Micro Wedding in Cannon Beach, OR is what beach wedding dreams are made of on the Oregon Coast! David and Nichole planned their Summer micro wedding from out of state. Haystack Rock especially has great importance to them from previous trips to the area. So when it came time for planning their wedding, it was important that their ceremony was on Cannon Beach with Haystack Rock in the background. And that is something that Surfsand Resort can make happen!
Summer on the Oregon Coast does not always mean warm and blue skies but thankfully for David and Nichole the Summer weather showed up for their July 2023 micro wedding. Their day began with prep time at Surfsand before their beach ceremony. Almanac PNW, their florist, created such a beautiful floral ceremony space. (See their complete vendor list below.)
For their ceremony, they included personal vows and did a coin toss to determine who would read first. This and many other moments made their ceremony very special. After their beautiful ceremony, they enjoyed time with guests and group photos on the beach. But before going to their reception, they had a scheduled gap of time when guests could go enjoy the area for a few hours while they went to two other nearby beach locations to enjoy short hikes, private moments together and really got to take in their day on the Oregon Coast.
Including some time for this was very important to them from the start. Since this was also a destination wedding for the newlyweds, having this extra time to explore was made extra special as this was the first time they were experiencing many of these locations. Also being such a beautiful summer day on the Oregon Coast was a plus. 😉
Upon return, the newlyweds were announced into their reception space and joined cocktail hour with guests before dinner and dessert. They enjoyed toasts, first dances and time with guests at the Surfsand Resort’s Haystack Garden reception space. But the day didn’t end there! They enjoyed a bubble exit from their reception before everyone made their way back to the beach where a campfire and chairs had been set up for their wedding guests by Surfsand staff.
During this time, the newlyweds stepped away briefly for sunset photos as guests were still making their way down to the campfire. Then it was time to enjoy s’mores and campfire time all serenaded by their guitarist who had been providing all music since ceremony earlier in the day. (Again see their awesome vendor team listed below!) Also, is there any better way to enjoy your beach wedding day then sunset and a campfire on the beach? I don’t believe so. 😉
This beautiful Surfsand Resort Cannon Beach micro wedding on the Oregon Coast was one for the books! It was so special getting to help Nichole & David bring their dreams to life and capture all the beautiful moments created.
Note: Above is what the beach does look like on a Summer Saturday on Cannon Beach, OR and below is one of the photos the couple requested as part of their full background people removal edit package. As editing software improves, removing specific background elements should improve but if planning your own Surfsand Resort wedding ceremony, I would recommend having this conversation with your photographer so your photos are meeting your expectations. Below, you will see a mix of both edited photos and true to the day photos.

We were absolutely thrilled with the exceptional service provided by Ann Marie! Ann Marie had so much to offer during the wedding planning process – she provided creative suggestions, was super organized, attentive, and professional. She even helped us find some of our other vendors! Day-of she was so fun to work with – creative, light-hearted, and proactive with her research of the area ahead of time and knew all the beautiful places to take us for photos. She also comes prepared with a “wedding day emergency kit” for any last minute needs (she is really skilled at scrubbing dirt out of wedding dresses!) 😉 Overall, Ann Marie went above and beyond and captured our wedding day beautifully. We highly recommend her services!
