This Horning’s Hideout Lakeside wedding was held on a beautiful Summer 2023 day. Zane & Annie reached out to me a year before their wedding day to begin the planning. It was so fun getting to know them through the planning process, their engagement session and to celebrate with them on their wedding day. They were wanting a fun, relaxed day with loved ones in a natural environment and I think they nailed it. Their love of camping and nature were evident in their venue selection. They even chose to camp with their wedding party the night of the wedding with Horning’s Hideout camping option. And their natural and rich wedding colors were beautiful against the forest and greenery abundant at Horning’s Hideout. Also check out their Mt. Rainier engagement session now on the blog HERE!
Their prep took place at a nearby vacation rental. The space was large enough allowing Annie and her wedding party to get ready on the upper level of the space and Zane and his wedding party to get ready on the lower level of the space. The weather on their June 2013 wedding day was beautiful blue sky and 70’s which was magical. Annie & Zane decided on a first look and sharing their vows privately during their first look before departing prep for Horning’s Hideout.
The Lakeside location at Horning’s Hideout is located on the south side of the lake and has a variety of open space available for a wedding day. Zane & Annie especially loved the natural forested areas which we chose for wedding party and immediate family photos which took place pre-ceremony. Their ceremony took place in the gravel area with the natural forest behind them (listed as the waterfall space on their website). With forest, grassy lawn, a covered but open sided reception space and more – the Lakeside location was wonderful for Zane & Annie’s summer wedding day.
The sun was streaming through the trees during Zane & Annie’s wedding ceremony led by a family member. They built their custom triangular ceremony arch, decorated with florals and let the natural beauty of the forest do the rest. This space was also nicely shaded on this Summer day for their ceremony which was wonderful.
After some ‘just married’ photos and signing their marriage license, Zane & Annie joined their cocktail hour before reception. Before dinner was served, the newlyweds had decided on the trend of getting ‘table photos’ – essentially a quick photo with each table of guests at their wedding reception. (see one of these fun candid group photos below.) This is such a fun way to capture candid group photos and I recommend doing before dinner is served so tables are clean and empty and most if not all guests are seated in preparation for dinner.
For dinner, they had a pizza food truck which made for a more casual reception time. Annie also had a dress change surprise that took place after dinner but before toasts. We definitely made time for some additional bridal photos before the change and Zane had no idea! 🙂 See below for his reaction.
After first dances, cake cutting and dessert we headed out for some sunset photos. Sunset photos are a favorite and a great way to have another private moment with your significant other. Throughout your wedding day, there are so many activities and things that take place making these quieter moments all the more special. They can not only be wonderful photo opportunities but a chance to slow down time and really take in the moments of your day.
I may be biased but I think Zane & Annie’s wedding day was pretty much perfection and matched them wonderfully. Their day came together so well thanks to their vendor team (see below) and loved ones who helped with various things. This Horning’s Hideout Lakeside wedding was so fun to be part of and capture. “Ann Marie has been the absolute best person to work with this past year while planning our wedding. We were fortunate enough to have been behind her magic lens four times in the last year, and each time it’s been like working with a friend (who’s crazy talented). My husband has never been one to smile in photos, and our families all comment how he’s genuinely smiling from ear to ear in our photos. Ann Marie made it a fun and truly enjoyable experience.
The photos speak for themselves- she’s incredible at scouting locations and capturing the colors and details. Her editing style is timeless and perfect for highlighting the PNW (and beyond).
Ann Marie was hands down the most valuable vendor of our wedding. The amount of energy and help she provided is beyond words. The stress during the planning-period was substantially minimized because Ann Marie was always there to answer questions, provide referrals/contact vendors, and meet in person and on Zoom to go over basically everything. On the day of our wedding, she was like a hawk seeing everything that needed to be captured but in a super tactful way to the point that at times we had no idea she was photographing certain moments (that we will treasure forever). Our wedding party has nothing but positive things to say about how Ann Marie was able to direct us through the day.
We reached out to Ann Marie to take our engagement and wedding photos, but she went above and beyond. First she offered to take photos of us at our venue when we toured it with her in July to use on our save the dates. Then we had our actual engagement session in October which she provided a ton of photos back in less than a day. Third we lucked out and were able to do a fun styled shoot with her on the coast in January (unrelated to our engagement/wedding). Fourth and finally we had our wedding in June! Each and every experience was amazing and gave us phenomenal photos in a variety of landscapes. We will be returning to Ann Marie for all future photos!
Thank you SO much for everything!!! You are a gem of a human and the best at what you do.”

Beautiful venue and lovely couple! Love the golden hour photos! 😍
What a wonderful elopement, and you captured it so beautifully! Love the details shots and the portraits of the couple in those lush green woods – Horning’s Hideout looks like a truly a perfect location to celebrate your love.
I really enjoyed the gifs, and seeing such a pretty rainforesty location with her bright florals. A cool celebration!
Horning’s Hideout looks beautiful! What a sweet celebration! I love the shots of them enjoying a drink together.
[…] This Mt. Rainier National Park Engagement Session took place in early October at the Paradise area. If wondering what the Mt. Rainier area looks like during early Fall time, this is it and it is beautiful! Wildflower season is always a favorite but Fall time is not to be missed as well and was perfect for Zane & Annie’s Mt. Rainier engagement session. Also, check out their wedding on the blog HERE. […]
