Sedona, AZ is one of our favorite places and where we have spent so much time over the years. Combine one of our favorite places, with this powerhouse couple and I am so excited to finally share their red rock engagement session with you all. Just like their wedding day, this Sedona engagement session was what dreams are made of. Between the beautiful red rocks to the gorgeous setting sun, it felt like pure magic. It was a great representation of the beauty that is the love these two wonderful souls have for each other. They were absolutely made for each other and I am so honored I was able to capture a piece of their love story.

The Location

Sedona, you have my heart. As I mentioned, this is one of my favorite locations to hike and just enjoy the beauty surrounding you. With the towering and impressive red rocks, stunning views, and unique landscape, it is also a photographer’s dream.

This particular hike and location is super popular but not for the faint of heart. If you are new to hiking and not as familiar to Sedona and it’s altitude, this might be a hike to work up to. Definitely a favorite and there’s a good reason why it is so popular.

These two lovely humans are originally from Texas, but live in California so where did having engagement photos in Sedona come into play you might ask? Well, Tim proposed to Hunter in Zion National Park and they have a thing for hiking and red rocks. Combine that with seeing some of our other photos from this particular location in Sedona and we landed here! It also worked out great as I was going to Arizona for another wonderful couple’s session allowing this to all come together nicely!

The Session

Tim and Hunter, Hunter and Tim, there is so much to say about these two and the wonderful people they are. They flew in from California and I flew in from Oregon that morning and we met at the trailhead, ready to go. This was the first time meeting in person and it was so much fun getting to share one of my favorite places with these two as it was their first time ever to Sedona.

We hit the trail with plenty of time for snack/ water and photo breaks along the way. They had opted for an extended session to make the most of their limited time in Sedona. This allowed us to hike up, have plenty of time for three outfits, epic photos, watching the sunset together, having snacks at the top, and finally hiking down by the light of our headlamps. It was a beautiful starry sky and we were met at the bottom by a local group doing a tribal drum ceremony (not photographed, sorry it was pitch black by this time) which really added to the ambiance and epic-ness of the moment.

Thank you to Tim and Hunter for allowing me to capture your love for one another and the magic that was your engagement and then wedding day. All in all, this Destination Hiking Engagement Session was one for the books and couldn’t have been more perfect if we tried. 😉
