These two brides came from Las Vegas to have their ideal Pacific Northwest (PNW) elopement experience and wanted to incorporate one of Oregon’s 238 waterfalls. Rather than leave their few special guests on their Elopement day which took place near Mt. Hood (see their Mt. Hood National Forest Elopement here), they chose to add a Day After Session in the Columbia River Gorge at a favorite waterfall. Choosing A Day after Adventure Session was the perfect way to have the best of both worlds – an intimate, relaxed Elopement and a hiking adventure with just the two of them.

The Location

The Columbia River Gorge has a rich history and is a very unique area. The gorge was formed in large part by the Missoula Floods of the Pleistocene (or last ice age) in geologic time and boast canyon walls up to 4,000 feet tall. (#sorrynotsorry, Photographer with a #geologydegree which means Geology tidbits can and might be brought up during your hike with me…) The Columbia River Gorge stretches over eighty miles as the river winds westward forming the boundary between the state of Washington to the north and Oregon to the South. Full of countless waterfalls and luscious green forest all around, it is a breathtaking destination with one of a kind views.

The Session

These two ladies braved the drizzly rain for a classic PNW Fall day in the Columbia River Gorge. After their enjoyable Elopement the day before, they were able to get out to enjoy their first hike as wife + wife! They had previously visited Oregon and explored a number of areas, selecting this waterfall as a choice favorite.

We set out mid-morning with umbrellas in hand to enjoy the area. Despite the chill and rain, this was such an enjoyable time and was one last place to explore before Alex + Vanessa headed back to their home in the desert. It is clear that the Pacific Northwest will forever have a special place in their hearts. Congratulations ladies!
