This Northern Oregon Coast Elopement took place in the Cannon Beach area in early May 2024. Leading up to this day and promptly following, the Pacific Northwest Spring weather was blustery and wet but lo and behold, on this elopement day the sun was shining and it felt like early Summer on the Oregon Coast. I was so excited!
Justin & Kaitlyn came from Tennessee to elope on the beautiful Oregon Coast. After 8 years together, they knew they wanted something different for their wedding day. These two turned their elopement into a Pacific Northwest Excursion where they explored Oregon after their nuptials on the coast. They also turned this into a surprise for much of their family and loves ones, keeping this moment truly intimate and just them.
During the planning process, I worked with Kaitlyn to assure that all aspects of their day were taken care of. From recommending locations for booking their Airbnb, to providing photos for them to select their beach destinations from, vendor recommendations for their florals and more. This day came together over a few months, creating a unique day complete with all the special things Justin & Kaitlyn wanted.
The day began with Justin & Kaitlyn transferring their personal vows into their vow books as part of prep time. From there they finished getting ready individually before sharing a first look on the local beach across the street from their Airbnb. It was a heartfelt, slightly windy moment for both of them. We spent a few moments on this beach before coming back to the Airbnb and preparing to depart for the day’s adventures.
Justin & Kaitlyn chose three beach locations for their day, all within very close proximity to each other making this a full but still relaxed 6 hour (half day) elopement experience. They opted to exchange their personal vows at a unique location of the beach that is only accessible at very low tide. After pledging their love to one another, exchanging rings, saying ‘I do’ and sealing it with a kiss, we set off to ask a nearby family to sign as witnesses to their union. The family was happy to, and I signed as their officiant (yes, I am ordained!) to finalize their paperwork before continuing on the day’s adventures.
Once the ceremony was complete, these two were able to relax and enjoy the beautiful northern Oregon Coast. This section of coastline boasts such a wide range of landscapes and views that it can seem crazy when locations are only 5 minutes from each other and look so different. This makes for a fun yet relaxing day. In fact, Justin & Kaitlyn said, “If I would have known how easy this would be we would have done this sooner!” Such a a great reminder that eloping (or getting married) on the Oregon Coast can be such a wonderful choice.
From sandy beaches, to exploring old-growth forests and running around on the beaches together – these two newlyweds enjoyed the sunshine and scenery of their day. Dress shoes were changed for hiking shoes at one point in their day. And hiking shoes were taken off for some barefoot time in the sand. So great for a May day that felt like Summer!
After hiking and exploring, it was time for dinner, dessert and to relax and enjoy sunset. This was all done via a picnic on the beach and a local pizza pick-up. Dessert was from a local bakery and was so delicious! (See the full vendor list below!) This portion of the day is one of my favorites. It is a chance to really stop, and take in all the beauty around you while enjoying tasty food. Add in a beautiful sunset and does it get much better than that??
To end the evening, Kaitlyn had a special request for fun flash photos which I love! I added in my heart shaped sunglasses and these two were rocking! 😉 This was such a wonderful way to end their beautiful northern Oregon Coast elopement day.
“Ann Marie captured our elopement day perfectly. Her planning and assistance through the whole process made the day stress free and so much fun! She was available for all of my questions & helped with anything that we needed. If you are considering using her as your photographer, DO IT. You won’t be disappointed!”
