This Mt. Rainier National Park Engagement Session took place in early October at the Paradise area. If wondering what the Mt. Rainier area looks like during early Fall time, this is it and it is beautiful! Wildflower season is always a favorite but Fall time is not to be missed as well and was perfect for Zane & Annie’s Mt. Rainier engagement session. Also, check out their wedding on the blog HERE.
Zane & Annie chose Mt. Rainier National Park for their Engagement Session because that is where Zane proposed to Annie while snowshoeing the winter before. Choosing a sentimental location is always great! This was their first time to the Paradise area though which made it extra fun as they got to enjoy this beautiful place for the first time.
We timed this session to catch golden hour and sunset while also accounting for working around other visitors. During their Engagement Session, we walked along multiple paths for different views of the mountain. They also had two outfits, using my portable changing room mid-session to change. And can we just chat for a moment about Annie’s cute floral dress? I was in love with this dress and such a great choice for early Fall at Mt. Rainier! I have an online outfit guide to help with styling and Zane & Annie did such a great job with wonderful outfits for their engagement photos.
They also turned this into a camping trip in order to further enjoy the National Park over the weekend. This is such a great idea and great way to turn your Engagement Photo Session into a couple’s getaway!
When photographing in or visiting a National Park don’t forget to follow Leave No Trace (LNT). LNT’s seven principles are:
During photo sessions this means staying on the paths or durable surfaces (rocks for example but not dirt paths worn in by others going off trail). This also means being considerate of all other visitors and not impeding traffic or preventing others from enjoying the trails as well. Pack out what you pack in and the easy part – take only the photos and memories! 😉
Dreaming of your own Mt. Rainier photos? I love spending time at Mt. Rainier and like to visit at least twice each year – during wildflower season and then during early Fall. Both are such beautiful times to visit Mt. Rainier – you really cannot go wrong! I would love to chat about your engagement or couple’s session at Mt. Rainier! You can reach out HERE or below:
“Ann Marie has been the absolute best person to work with this past year while planning our wedding. We were fortunate enough to have been behind her magic lens four times in the last year, and each time it’s been like working with a friend (who’s crazy talented). My husband has never been one to smile in photos, and our families all comment how he’s genuinely smiling from ear to ear in our photos. Ann Marie made it a fun and truly enjoyable experience.
The photos speak for themselves- she’s incredible at scouting locations and capturing the colors and details. Her editing style is timeless and perfect for highlighting the PNW (and beyond).
Ann Marie was hands down the most valuable vendor of our wedding. The amount of energy and help she provided is beyond words. The stress during the planning-period was substantially minimized because Ann Marie was always there to answer questions, provide referrals/contact vendors, and meet in person and on Zoom to go over basically everything. On the day of our wedding, she was like a hawk seeing everything that needed to be captured but in a super tactful way to the point that at times we had no idea she was photographing certain moments (that we will treasure forever). Our wedding party has nothing but positive things to say about how Ann Marie was able to direct us through the day.
We reached out to Ann Marie to take our engagement and wedding photos, but she went above and beyond. First she offered to take photos of us at our venue when we toured it with her in July to use on our save the dates. Then we had our actual engagement session in October which she provided a ton of photos back in less than a day. Third we lucked out and were able to do a fun styled shoot with her on the coast in January (unrelated to our engagement/wedding). Fourth and finally we had our wedding in June! Each and every experience was amazing and gave us phenomenal photos in a variety of landscapes. We will be returning to Ann Marie for all future photos!
Thank you SO much for everything!!! You are a gem of a human and the best at what you do.”

[…] This Horning’s Hideout Lakeside wedding was held on a beautiful Summer 2023 day. Zane & Annie reached out to me a year before their wedding day to begin the planning. It was so fun getting to know them through the planning process, their engagement session and to celebrate with them on their wedding day. They were wanting a fun, relaxed day with loved ones in a natural environment and I think they nailed it. Their love of camping and nature were evident in their venue selection. They even chose to camp with their wedding party the night of the wedding with Horning’s Hideout camping option. And their natural and rich wedding colors were beautiful against the forest and greenery abundant at Horning’s Hideout. Also check out their Mt. Rainier engagement session now on the blog HERE! […]
